Cybersecurity for Reno Nonprofits
Nonprofits hold donor data, client records and grant funds, usually with a small staff and a tight budget. We protect Reno, Sparks and Carson City nonprofits with 24/7/365 monitoring by our SOC, MFA and zero trust access, email security and training, at a per-user monthly price with no contract.
Trusted brands, valuable data, lean teams.
Donors trust your name, which is why criminals impersonate it. And business email compromise, the crime behind $2.77 billion in losses reported to the FBI in 2024, works especially well where money moves through grants and donations.1
Donor and client data
Payment details, addresses and sometimes sensitive information about the people you serve.
Grant and payment fraud
Fake invoices and altered payment instructions aimed at finance staff and executive directors.
Volunteers and shared accounts
Shared logins and accounts left active after volunteers move on are easy ways in.
Ransomware
Losing access to donor databases and program records can stop services to the community.
What to do this month.
- Turn on MFA for every email and cloud account.
- Replace shared logins with individual accounts, and remove access when volunteers leave.
- Verify any change to payment or grant instructions by phone.
- Give volunteers access only to what their role needs.
- Keep at least one backup copy out of ransomware's reach.
Microsoft, Google and many security vendors offer nonprofit pricing, and CISA publishes free guidance for small organizations.2
Protection that fits a nonprofit budget.
Our Security plan is $100 per user per month with no minimums and no contracts. It includes:
- 24/7/365 MDR from our SOC
- MFA and zero trust access
- Email security against phishing and fake invoices
- Training for staff, with simulated phishing
- Incident response and vCISO guidance
Funders, donors and Nevada law.
Nonprofits that are data collectors under Nevada law may be subject to NRS 603A, Nevada's data security and breach notification law. Nonprofits that take card donations are generally bound to PCI DSS through their payment processor agreements, and many grants and contracts include their own data security terms. Organizations that provide health services may also face HIPAA or Nevada SB 370.
